How much wallpaper do I need for my wall?

Measure your wall's width and height in metres and multiply them together to get the area in square metres. For wall murals sold by the square metre, our product pages calculate this for you — enter your wall width and height and the right quantity is set automatically. For rolled wallpaper, check the roll size and pattern repeat on the product page and always round up to the next full roll. If you'd like a hand, send us your wall measurements at hello@wallpapertrader.com and we'll work it out for you.

Can I get a sample before I buy?

Yes, and we recommend it. A4 samples are $10 each, posted anywhere in Australia, so you can check the true colour, scale and texture in your own light before committing to a full order. Samples are sent via Australia Post and usually arrive within a week.

How much does wallpaper cost?

Prices vary by design, brand and size — rolled wallpaper is priced per roll and many wall murals are priced per square metre so you only pay for what your wall needs. The best way to see pricing is to browse the design you love at wallpapertrader.com; each product page shows the price and lets you order a $10 A4 sample first. Australia-wide delivery is $50, or $150 for express.

How long does wallpaper delivery take in Australia?

Standard delivery is $50 Australia-wide and most orders arrive within 3–4 weeks, as many of our designer papers are printed to order. If you need it sooner, express delivery is $150 and takes around 10 business days. A4 samples usually arrive within a week. You'll receive a tracking number by email as soon as your order ships.

Do you ship wallpaper outside Australia?

Yes. Wallpaper Trader ships internationally, with shipping calculated at checkout based on your destination. If you'd like a quote before ordering, email us at hello@wallpapertrader.com and we'll help.

What's the difference between paste-the-wall and paste-the-paper wallpaper?

With paste-the-wall wallpaper you apply the adhesive directly to the wall and then hang the dry paper — it's faster, cleaner and the easiest type for first-timers. Paste-the-paper wallpaper needs the adhesive applied to the back of each strip and a short soak before hanging. Every product page tells you which type you're buying, and our installation guide at wallpapertrader.com/pages/how-to-install covers both.

Is paste-the-wall wallpaper easier for beginners?

Yes — paste-the-wall wallpaper is generally the easiest type for first-time installers because you paste the wall and hang the paper dry, with no soaking and less mess. Our wall murals and many of our papers are paste-the-wall and quite DIY-friendly. Start with our step-by-step guide at wallpapertrader.com/pages/how-to-install.

Can I install wallpaper myself?

Many of our customers install their own wallpaper. Paste-the-wall papers and our murals are very DIY-friendly. Begin with our step-by-step installation guide at wallpapertrader.com/pages/how-to-install, which covers preparing your walls, checking your rolls and hanging your paper. For large or intricate murals, a professional installer is worth considering.

Can you recommend a wallpaper installer?

Yes. We keep a directory of experienced wallpaper installers across Australia — including Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Hobart and Canberra — at wallpapertrader.com/pages/book-an-installer. For an intricate mural or a large feature wall, a professional installer is a worthwhile investment.

Can I use wallpaper in a bathroom or humid room?

Many wallpapers can be used in bathrooms and other humid rooms provided there is good ventilation and the paper isn't in a direct-splash zone like inside a shower. Vinyl-coated and washable papers cope best with humidity. If you're planning a bathroom feature wall, email us at hello@wallpapertrader.com with the room details and we'll recommend suitable designs.

Is peel-and-stick or removable wallpaper good for renters?

Peel-and-stick (removable) wallpaper is a popular choice for renters because it can be applied and later removed without the paste and soaking of traditional wallpaper. It's ideal for feature walls and temporary makeovers. Browse our range at wallpapertrader.com and check each product page for whether a design is available as peel-and-stick.

Can I order a custom-size wall mural?

Yes — many of our wall murals are printed to order and can be made to fit your exact wall dimensions. On these products you enter your wall width and height and we print to suit. If you have an unusual size or shape, email your measurements to hello@wallpapertrader.com and we'll arrange a custom print.

What's the difference between wallpaper and a wall mural?

Wallpaper is a repeating pattern supplied in rolls that you hang side by side, so it can cover any size wall. A wall mural is a single large-scale image or scene — like a forest, cloudscape or the Marauder's Map — printed as one continuous picture, often made to the size of your wall. Wallpaper Trader sells both; browse murals at wallpapertrader.com/collections/murals.

Are your wallpapers washable?

Yes — our wallpapers are washable using a mild soap that doesn't contain detergent. Rinse with clean water and a soft sponge, and avoid scrubbing or abrasive cleaners. Grease and oil stains may not come out, so take extra care in kitchens.

How long does wallpaper last?

Good-quality wallpaper, well installed on properly prepared walls, typically lasts 10–15 years or more. Longevity depends on the paper, the wall preparation and the room — papers in low-traffic rooms last longest. All our wallpapers are washable for easy upkeep, which helps them stay looking their best.

What do "vertical repeat" and "straight match" mean?

The vertical repeat is the distance before a pattern repeats itself down the roll. A straight match means the pattern lines up horizontally from strip to strip — you hang each strip at the same height. An offset or half-drop match means alternate strips shift down by half the repeat. Every product page lists the repeat and match type, which you'll need when calculating quantity.

How do I measure my wall for a mural?

Measure the full width and height of your wall in metres, at the widest and tallest points, and round up. Take a photo of the wall too, including any doors, windows or fittings. For murals sold by the square metre, enter your width and height on the product page and we'll set the quantity automatically. Unsure? Email your measurements to hello@wallpapertrader.com.

Can I return wallpaper?

If something isn't right, contact our team and we'll look after you — see our Returns & Exchanges page at wallpapertrader.com/pages/returns-exchanges for full details. Because many papers are printed to order, we always recommend ordering a $10 A4 sample first and checking your rolls carefully before your installer starts work.

Do you have a showroom, or can I see the wallpaper in person?

Wallpaper Trader is an online store, so the best way to see a design in person is to order a $10 A4 sample, posted anywhere in Australia. Samples let you check the true colour, scale and texture on your own wall and in your own light before you commit to a full order.

Do you sell wall murals as well as wallpaper?

Yes — our wall mural collection includes forest, cloud, botanical and children's designs, plus our exclusive officially licensed Harry Potter™ murals, many printed to your exact wall size. Browse them at wallpapertrader.com/collections/murals.
