How Many Rolls of Harry Potter Wallpaper Do I Need?

Last updated: 13 August 2026

Harry Potter wallpaper is sold as standard rolls, so working out how many you need is ordinary arithmetic rather than a custom quote. Here is the method and a table of common Australian wall sizes.

The roll

Every design in the range is the same size: 10 metres long by 0.5 metres wide, premium non-woven at 147 gsm, hung paste-the-wall. A$340 per roll.

The method

  1. Measure your wall height and add about 10 cm for trimming top and bottom. A 2.4 m wall needs a 2.5 m drop.
  2. Divide 10 m by your drop length to get whole drops per roll. A 2.5 m drop gives 4 drops per roll (10 ÷ 2.5 = 4). Always round down — a part-drop is waste, not a drop.
  3. Multiply drops per roll by 0.5 m to get how much wall width one roll covers. Four drops covers 2.0 m of wall.
  4. Divide your wall width by that and round up.

Common Australian wall sizes

Straight-match minimum, before any allowance for pattern matching:

Ceiling height Drop (incl. trim) Drops per roll Wall width one roll covers 3 m wall 4 m wall 5 m wall
2.4 m (standard) 2.5 m 4 2.0 m 2 rolls 2 rolls 3 rolls
2.7 m 2.8 m 3 1.5 m 2 rolls 3 rolls 4 rolls
3.0 m (period home) 3.1 m 3 1.5 m 2 rolls 3 rolls 4 rolls

The pattern-repeat caveat

The table above is the straight-match minimum. Every one of these designs has a large repeat, and matching the pattern across drops costs you paper at the top or bottom of each one. On a wall of any size that can add a roll.

If your calculation lands close to a whole number, buy the extra roll. Running one drop short at the end is the expensive mistake — the range is imported and a top-up order is a three-to-four-week wait, with no guarantee of the same print batch.

Doors and windows

Do not deduct them until they are large. A standard door or window sits within a drop you still have to hang, and you need the offcut above and below it. Only deduct when an opening removes a full drop's width from floor to ceiling.

Check it against your actual wall

Use the roll calculator for your exact dimensions, or email your measurements to hello@wallpapertrader.com and we will work it out with you. Order an A$10 A4 sample first if you have not seen the paper in your own light.
