How to use blue wallpaper
Navy has become the dark neutral of choice for studies, dining rooms and hallways, and it flatters timber and brass. Powder blue and duck egg do the opposite job in bedrooms and nurseries, where they read as calm rather than cold. Blue cools a room, so in a south-facing space with little direct sun warm it with a timber floor, a cream trim or a rust cushion. Navy-and-white is the Hamptons formula and it works in any coastal house; a blue-and-white stripe is the quietest way to get it.
