Romo is a British design house founded in Nottingham in 1902 by Robert Mould, who named it from the first letters of his own name, and it is still run by the Mould family in its fifth generation. The wallcoverings are quiet rather than loud: grasscloths, fine linens, painterly botanicals and pinstripes drawn at close intervals, made to sit behind furniture rather than compete with it. About Romo

Robert Mould began as a small furniture maker in Nottingham; by the 1930s the company was supplying fabrics to the upholstery trade, and in the 1980s it opened the in-house design studio that made Romo the design-led house it is today. The group now includes Villa Nova, Kirkby Design, Zinc, Mark Alexander and Black Edition, and its wallcoverings are known for texture: real grasscloths, woven linens and paper-backed weaves alongside printed designs.

What we stock and how it is sold

Romo rolls are mostly 68 cm to 70 cm wide, with a handful at 52 cm, and every product page lists width, length, repeat and match. Prices run from $300 to $1,000 a roll with a typical design around $410. Fifteen of the 65 designs are textured and eleven carry a metallic finish; the rest are botanicals, geometrics, florals, abstracts and stripes. Romo is supplied through its Australian distributor, so delivery is normally three to four weeks.
