Vinyl Wallpaper
Vinyl wallpaper is the practical choice for a wall that will be touched, brushed past and wiped down: hallways and staircases, kitchens and laundries, and the public rooms of restaurants, hotels and offices. A fine layer of PVC over a paper or non-woven backing gives the surface its resilience and lets it be cleaned with a damp cloth. This collection holds the 244 designs we sell on vinyl, and they come to it in two different ways, explained below.

Buying guide and questions we are asked
Two kinds of vinyl in this collection
The first is wallpaper made on vinyl by the mill, sold by the roll. Casamance is the largest part of it, with 79 designs made in Italy and France on 70 cm rolls, nearly all of them textured and nearly all rated washable by Casamance. Romo contributes 21 designs on 68 cm rolls, Coordonné nine textured plains, Harlequin and Sanderson three between them, and Catherine Martin two, La Palma and Monkey Business, both on an embossed paper-backed vinyl.
The second is a choice of print quality. Sandberg and Rebel Walls print their murals and wallpapers to order in three grades, and the Commercial Vinyl grade is a non-woven backed vinyl of 207 g/m² that Sandberg rates scrubbable to EN 259. Any of the 130 Sandberg and Rebel Walls designs in this collection can be ordered in that grade, priced by the square metre, and the product page shows the three grades side by side so you can compare them before you choose.
Choosing by room
In a hallway or on a staircase the wall is brushed past every day, and a textured design such as Casamance's Argile or Romo's Esai Seagrass will carry the marks of daily life more gracefully than a flat colour. In a kitchen or laundry, look for a design the mill rates as washable, which is noted in the Specifications table on each product page. For a child's room or a feature wall that needs a mural, the Sandberg and Rebel Walls designs in the commercial grade are the ones to look at. In a bedroom or sitting room, where nothing touches the walls, a grasscloth or linen paper may give you more depth and softness than vinyl, and we would point you there first.
Commercial projects and fire ratings
Wall linings in the public areas of a commercial building fall under the National Construction Code, and the building surveyor sets the Group classification the project requires, tested to AS 5637.1. We never estimate that number, and we publish only the ratings the mills have given us. Casamance states a European fire class for each design on its technical sheet, and Sandberg and Rebel Walls state a minimum class across their ranges; each appears in the Specifications table of the product page. For a project that needs a certificate, send us the design, the quantity and the Group required, and we will obtain the test report from the mill and include it with your quote. Trade pricing and project quantities are arranged through our trade program, and when the design you have in mind is not in the collection, your own artwork can be printed on commercial vinyl through our custom printing service.
Ordering
Every design is available as a sample, and we suggest looking at it on the wall in daylight and again in the evening under your own lighting, because vinyl has a faint sheen that a screen cannot show. All of the vinyls here are hung with paste, in most cases applied to the wall rather than the paper, and the product page gives the method the mill specifies along with the roll size, pattern repeat and care instructions in the mill's own words. Measure the wall and use the roll calculator, which allows for the pattern repeat. The product code beneath each design name changes with the colour you select, and the Specifications table copies to your clipboard, ready to paste into a finishes schedule. Rolls are printed or coated to order in Europe, so please allow three to four weeks for delivery within Australia, or around ten business days by express. Care advice is in our guide to cleaning and caring for wallpaper.
Questions we are asked about vinyl wallpaper
Can vinyl wallpaper be washed?
Yes, where the mill rates it washable, which Casamance states for almost all of its papers and Catherine Martin for La Palma. Sandberg rates its Commercial Vinyl scrubbable to EN 259. Use a damp cloth with a mild detergent and follow the care line on the product page. If a design carries no care line, the mill has not stated one, and we will ask them on your behalf.
Can vinyl wallpaper be used in a bathroom?
Sandberg advises against its Commercial Vinyl in rooms with high humidity, bathrooms among them, and we apply the same caution to the other vinyls here. For a well-ventilated powder room away from the shower, read our guide to wallpaper in bathrooms and kitchens and ask us about the particular design.
Is vinyl wallpaper fire rated?
Many of these designs are, and because the rating depends on the face and the backing it is stated for each design where the mill publishes it. If your project needs a Group number under AS 5637.1, let us know before you order and we will request the certificate from the mill.
Can I order a sample first?
Yes. Every design is available as a sample, sent by letter mail to Australia, New Zealand and overseas, and usually with you within the week. The sample price and postage are shown on the product page in your own currency.
