How to use grey wallpaper
Grey shows its undertone more than any other colour: a blue-grey and a warm greige look nothing alike on a wall, so hold the sample against the floor and the trim before you choose. Charcoal is the drama option for a study, a dining room or a wall behind a bed; dove and silver keep a room light and let a pattern show. Grey is the natural partner for black-and-white schemes and, less obviously, for blush pink and for brass. It is also the colour most textured papers come in, so if you want a quiet grey, look at grasscloth and plaster rather than pattern.
Where to start
Of the designs on this page, the most ordered over the last twelve months, in any colourway, were Sandberg's Gustav, Rand, Magnus and Wilma, Romo's Esai Seagrass and Sandberg's made-to-measure Wilton; the most sampled were Argile and Casamance's Cinerea Leaves. Grey by style: black and white, textured and grasscloth and calm and gentle. Neighbouring colours: black and white.
Can I get a sample first?
Yes. A4 samples are A$10 each plus A$5 postage within Australia, A$18 to New Zealand and A$35 elsewhere, sent by letter mail and usually with you within a week. Colour is the one thing a screen cannot settle, so we recommend it.
