Sandberg is a Swedish wallpaper house from Ulricehamn, now headquartered in Borås and part of the Gimmersta Group, and a Purveyor to the Royal Court of Sweden. Every design begins as a drawing made entirely by hand, which is why the forests, meadows and stripes feel painted rather than printed. About Sandberg
The house was founded by the Sandberg family in Ulricehamn, in the wallpaper country of western Sweden, and passed in 2012 to Irene and Christofer Gimmersta, whose family has specialised in wallpaper since the 1920s. The archive is still mined for new collections, and the designs are named for the Swedish landscape: Pine for the forest, Himmel for the sky, Rand for a plain painted stripe. Sandberg describes its approach as a love of detail made possible by drawing everything by hand first, and it shows in the brushwork on Raphaël and the painted edge of the Gustav stripe.
What Sandberg says about its paper
Sandberg states that its wallpapers are free from toxins, heavy metals, plasticizers and PVC, that its inks and pigments are non-toxic, that its materials come from responsibly managed forests, and that every tree used in production is replaced through its planting partner. The commercial-grade vinyl range is the one exception it notes, carrying a discrete PVC layer for wipe-down durability. Fire classification B-s1, d0 is certified on designs such as Ranold and Rosenholm.

Rolled Sandberg wallpaper comes on 53 cm wide, 10.05 m rolls, non-woven and paste-the-wall, with the pattern repeat and match type listed on every product page. The mural and per-square-metre range is printed on Sandberg's 50 cm Mattic substrate and made to your wall size, and on those designs you can choose the finish: standard Paste the Wall, Mattic Peel & Stick for a removable feature wall, or Commercial Vinyl for hard-wearing spaces. Rolled designs do not come in a peel-and-stick version. Lead time is normally three to four weeks, because the paper is printed to order in Sweden and shipped to Australia.

Over the past year the most ordered Sandberg designs at Wallpaper Trader have been Gustav and Rand, two painted stripes, Raphaël, the hand-painted forest, and Lo, a floral. Forest and woodland is the theme customers search for most, followed by florals, then the calm cloud designs used in nurseries.

Yes. The rolled range is non-woven paste-the-wall, so you paste the wall and hang the dry paper. The per-square-metre range also offers Mattic Peel & Stick and Commercial Vinyl finishes on the same design.

Sandberg is designed in Sweden and printed to order for each customer, which is why Australian delivery takes three to four weeks.
