About Rebel Walls

Rebel Walls set out in 2012 to make large-scale wall art as easy to order as a roll of wallpaper. Nothing is held in stock: each mural is produced on demand once you order, scaled to the width and height you enter, and delivered in numbered strips 50 cm wide that hang edge to edge. The company also designs custom murals and has published collaborations with the chinoiserie illustrator Diane Hill and the children's illustrator Mrs Mighetto, both of which we carry.

What Rebel Walls says about its paper

Rebel Walls states that its wallpapers are non-toxic and free from heavy metals, detergents, plasticizers and PVC, that its matte Rebel Mattic finish is water-based, that its materials come from responsibly managed forests, and that its wallpapers are tested to European fire regulations with a pass mark of B-s1, d0. Production waste in Borås is recycled into district heating for the town.

How a Rebel Walls mural is sold

Enter your wall width and height on the product page and the price is calculated in square metres, so you pay for your wall and nothing more. Most designs are $106 per square metre; a 4 m by 2.4 m wall is 9.6 m² and about $1,018. The paper is non-woven and paste-the-wall. Because the mural is printed to size there is no pattern repeat to allow for, but add a few centimetres to height and width for trimming, and check the design preview to see where the motif falls on your wall. A few designs are also offered as repeating patterns rather than one-off scenes.

The designs to know

The forest murals are the heart of the range: Misty Fir Forest, Bellewood, Cloudy Forest and Whispering Forest for living rooms and bedrooms, and the softer Dream Forest scenes for nurseries. Sky designs such as Vintage Clouds, Sky of Clouds and Fluffy Clouds are the most popular choice for children's rooms, and the Diane Hill chinoiserie murals bring hand-painted birds and blossom to dining rooms and hallways.

Before you order

Measure the wall at its widest and tallest points, including skirting to cornice, and read our guide to hanging a wall mural before the strips arrive. Murals are printed to order in Sweden, so allow three to four weeks for delivery. Rebel Walls advises against hanging its murals in bathrooms, on textured walls or on ceilings.
