Kids Wallpaper

Kids' wallpaper at Wallpaper Trader is 69 designs across two very different ages: the nursery and small-child years, with woodland animals, clouds and gentle Scandinavian prints from Sandberg, Rebel Walls and Emma Hayes, and the older room, where the four officially licensed Harry Potter™ murals designed by MinaLima are the most sampled designs in the store. Twenty-three designs are sold by the roll from $179, and the rest are murals priced by the square metre from $81. Every design is available as an A4 sample, posted worldwide.

Buying guide and questions we are asked

How to choose wallpaper for a child's room

Buy for the room's next five years, not this one. A print built around a character the child loves at four can feel babyish at eight, while a woodland, a sky or a map-style design carries through. Put the pattern on one wall, usually behind the bed, and keep the other three plain so the room can change with posters, shelves and paint. Light grounds keep small bedrooms bright; deeper greens and navies make a room feel cocooned and calmer at bedtime.

Non-woven paste-the-wall papers are the practical choice: the paste goes on the wall, the paper goes up dry, and a strip can be slid into place while the paste is wet. Most designs here hang that way, and each product page states the method. For scuffs and sticky fingers, follow the care note on the product page and our guide to cleaning and caring for wallpaper.

The designs Australians order most

The Harry Potter™ Black Family Tapestry family tree has been the most sampled design in the store this year and one of the most ordered, with the Marauder's Map, the Daily Prophet and the Hogwarts Library murals behind it. All four are $300 a roll, 10 m long and 50 cm wide, non-woven and hung paste-the-wall, and they are not made as peel and stick. Our Harry Potter wallpaper guide explains which design suits which room. For younger rooms the orders went to three Sandberg designs, Della, Hollie and the made-to-measure Wilton, small-scale prints that sit happily beside a cot or a first bed.

Before you order

Measure the wall, then use the roll calculator for rolled designs; for a mural, enter the wall width and height on the product page and the quantity is worked out for you. Order the sample and tape it up at the child's eye level, which is lower than you think. Babies' rooms are gathered in nursery wallpaper, animal prints for any age in animal wallpaper, and tree scenes in forest and woodland.

Questions we are asked about kids' wallpaper

Is the Harry Potter wallpaper official?

Yes. The four designs are officially licensed and were designed by MinaLima, the studio that created the graphic props for the films. Read is my Harry Potter wallpaper official for how to tell a licensed print from a fan copy.

Is kids' wallpaper wipeable?

Many non-woven papers tolerate a wipe with a damp cloth, but finishes differ, so check the care note on the product page rather than assuming.

How long does delivery take?

Delivery within Australia is $50 and most orders arrive within three to four weeks, because many designer papers are printed to order overseas. Express delivery is $150 and takes around ten business days. Shipping outside Australia is calculated at checkout.

Can I get a sample first?

Yes. A4 samples are A$10 each plus A$5 postage within Australia, A$18 to New Zealand and A$35 elsewhere, sent by letter mail and usually with you within a week.
