What fire class do I need?

In the public areas of a commercial building, wall linings must meet the National Construction Code. The Code sorts linings into Groups, with Group 1 the best performer, and a Group is determined by the Australian test AS 5637.1. Which Group a wall needs depends on the class of building, where in the building the wall is and whether it has sprinklers. Your building surveyor decides it.

A European class (EN 13501-1) or an American class (ASTM E84) is a different test, so it does not give a Group by itself. Whether it satisfies your surveyor is the surveyor's call. If you need a test report, send us the design and the Group your surveyor requires, and we will ask the maker for the report.

Trade accounts and installation

Designers, architects, builders and shopfitters can apply for a trade account through our trade program. There is no joining fee and no minimum order. We do not contract the installation. We refer you to an installer who quotes and contracts directly, so any fault in the installation is the installer's to put right. Our installer page lists installers by city.

Questions we are asked about commercial wallpaper

Is there fire-rated wallpaper in Australia?

Yes. Every maker above states a fire class on most of its designs. Two designs, La Palma and Monkey Business, state an Australian AS 5637.1 Group 1 result on their product pages, and Rebel Walls publishes an AS 5637.1 certificate. The rest state a European or American class.

What makes a wallpaper commercial grade?

There is no single definition, so we pass on what each maker publishes: the surface, the weight, how it can be cleaned and the fire class. The product page shows these wherever the maker has given them.

Can commercial wallpaper go in a bathroom or commercial kitchen?

Sandberg states that its Commercial Vinyl suits all areas except those with high humidity, such as bathrooms. For a room with steam or splashing, tell us the room and we will check the maker's guidance for that design.

How long does delivery take?

Standard delivery in Australia is 3 weeks and express is 10 business days. Emma Hayes designs are printed to order and take 4 to 6 weeks.

Do you supply a fire certificate?

We ask the maker for the test report for your design and send it to you with the quote.

Is there a minimum order for trade customers?

No. It can be a single feature wall or a whole building.
