Emma Hayes Wallpaper
Emma Hayes is a New Zealand artist and textile designer whose wallpapers behave more like paintings than pattern. From her Auckland studio, founded in 2011, each design begins as handmade marks, washes and pressed forms before it is scaled up and printed, so an Emma Hayes wall reads as one continuous artwork rather than a repeating tile. Wallpaper Trader stocks 42 designs, sold as panels, rolls and commercial-grade paper by the square metre from $265. Every design is available as an A4 sample, posted worldwide.

About Emma Hayes
Emma trained in visual communication and worked in graphic design and advertising before setting up her studio in 2011. The work draws on New Zealand's landscape, and it has been specified for interiors as varied as Louis Vuitton in Auckland and Melbourne, the Nobu Hotel in Miami and the WME offices in New York. Her studio makes its non-woven wallcoverings with heritage manufacturers, using papers from FSC or PEFC certified forests and inks made from organic pigments free from heavy metals. The commercial-grade lines are PVC-free.
What we stock and how it is sold
Emma Hayes designs come in several formats, and the format changes the width. Standard panels are 129.5 cm wide and 335 cm tall; the brushed-metallic panels are 99 cm wide; grasscloth panels are 87 cm; the rolled designs are 70 cm wide on 10 m rolls; and the Commercial grade is priced per square metre at $265 for any wall size. Panels start at $772, the brushed-metallic panels at $878 and rolls at $477. Every variant lists its own width, so use the figure on the option you choose when you calculate.
The designs to know
Bloom, watercolour petals cascading down the wall, is the design people most often order after seeing it above a bed, and Sandscape, a soft horizon in beige and blue, follows it. Cloud, Nebula, Falling Feather and Seascape are the nursery favourites; Petals Pressed lays flowers flat like specimens in a herbarium; Dune, River, Wash and Mirage are the quiet gradients that give a room depth without asking for attention. The Atmosphere collection, Dispersion, Drift and Dreamer, adds brushed metallic and grasscloth versions.
Before you order
Enter your wall size on the product page and the panel or square-metre quantity is set for you. Emma Hayes prints to order in New Zealand, so allow four to six weeks, and please confirm availability with us at hello@wallpapertrader.com before you order. Read our mural hanging guide, and order a sample: the watercolour washes are softer and more layered in the hand than any screen shows.
